The accelerated student program is an accelerated nursing education program, a continuing education from the Nursing diploma program. It is based on the nursing profession’s efforts to improve professional nurses’ quality, as stated in UU No.20 / 2003, which states that diploma education is included in vocational education while bachelor of nursing education occupies a professional education type. On this basis, the PPNI (Indonesian National Nursing Association) has recommended for nurses’ acceleration to become bachelor’s degrees in nursing before 2015. The School of Nursing Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta is also one of the institutions responsible for implementing the Nursing acceleration program. Accelerated students are recognized as 90 credits in diploma, so they must fulfill the remaining credits of 56 to match the bachelor program (146 credits). Students can take this accelerated education program for 1.5-2 years
